LiU DICTIONARY  ðŸ“–

We know that moving to a new place can be challenging and mostly if you are not very familiar with the language and culture. For this we have made a compilation of some terms that will be useful once you start college life and to help you get familiar with your new home!

  • LiU: Linköping University

  • Campus Us: Medical campus for medical faculty students and your main place of study

  • Campus Valla: Main place of study for the Technical programs (LinkTek) and Arts and Sciences programs (StuFF) of Linköping University

  • Campus Norrköping: LiU Campus located in Norrköping

  • Studenthuset: Main library in Campus Valla 

  • Section: Group of people from each program that has been elected to work to improve the academic and social life of their program

  • BioMed  Section: Our section's name

  • Nollan: You right now

  • Ettan: What you will become after Nolle-P is over

  • Fadder: It's US, your mentors! We are the responsible for taking care of you during your first year

  • Festeri: Party Commities at LiU

  • FylleCellen: The BioMed Section Party Committee

  • Fadderi: They help with welcoming the Nollans durning Nollan-P

  • StemCellen: The BioMed Section Fadderi

  • Gyckel: Song with re-written lyrics usually performed by Festeri

  • Kårhus: Union house where you can chill and study during the day, but party at night with more LiU students

  • KK: Kårhus Kollektivet,  union house located in the city centre

  • HG: Ryds Herrgård,  union house located in Ryd

  • Kårallen: Union house located in Campus Valla

  • Örat: Union house located in Campus US

  • Trappan: Union house located in Norrköping

  • Flamman: Pub and night club famous within LiU students, it is located in the student area known as Flamman

  • VilleValla Pub: Popular student pub with a lot of board games to play

  • Ovve: slang term for overalls, they come in different colors that represents the multiple programs in LiU

  • Kravall: Parties were the dresscode is ovve

  • Finsittning: Fancy banquet filled with food, wine, entertainment as well as different traditions usually held at either KK, Kårallen, or HG.

  • Fulsittning: It is similar to a Finsitting where food is also served only difference is that it is not as proper and not fancy at all. It is usually held outside, people often wear their Ovve and Fulvin is commonly served

  • Fulvin: Typical LiU student tradition were home-brewed wine that can have different flavours. It is also known as ugly wine
